Dr. Siyun Wang’s Molecular Food Safety Research Laboratory invites applications for a 75% Research Associate position with an anticipated start date of July 11, 2016. The position is located in the Food, Nutrition and Health (FNH) program in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems on the Vancouver campus of The University of British Columbia.
The successful candidate will execute research exploring the microbial composition during spontaneous fermentation, as well as biofilm formation of foodborne pathogens. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Wang and graduate students, and will be involved in collaborative work with our industry and government partners. The appointment will be for 1 year with the possibility of extension for additional two years.
The candidate must have a PhD, preferably in Food Science or Biotechnology, and preference will be given to those with experience with food safety and fermentation. Potential candidates with demonstrated contributions relating to environmental monitoring of food fermentation and characterization of foodborne pathogens are encouraged to apply. The candidate will be responsible for training graduate students on research methods related to food microbiology.
